PRofession calls for PRide award entrees

Isle News, 20 May 2009 – THE Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is calling for Channel Islanders to enter the PRide awards.

This is the second time local practitioners have been eligible to enter the annual awards scheme, which showcases the best PR work being carried out in areas of the UK outside of London.

The Channel Islands have been grouped within the Wessex area and will compete across 24 categories including ‘best use of media relations’, ‘best publication’, ‘best in-house’, ‘best consultancy’ as well as two new categories; ‘corporate and business communication’ and ‘measurement and evaluation’.

Entrees will be judged by an independent panel of CIPR representatives in London with a shortlist of finalists appearing on the CIPR website from early September. An awards ceremony will be held in Wessex at the end of the year.

Chair of the Channel Island CIPR branch, Jason MacKenzie, said: ‘The PRide Awards offer the PR industry the opportunity to have their hard work and contribution not only acknowledged by employers, clients and peers, but by the business community at large.

Enter and you have the opportunity to put yourself on the map and to demonstrate the value and power of PR.’

The Channel Islands branch of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations was formed in 2008. The CIPR is the professional body for PR practitioners in the UK, has more than 9,500 members and is the largest organisation of its type in Europe.

There are 13 regions taking part in the PRide awards – the Channel Islands; East Anglia; Home Counties South; Midlands; North East; North West; Northern Ireland; Scotland; Thames and Chiltern; Wales; Wessex; West of England; Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
