Outstanding Standard Bank win prestigious award

Isle News, 15 May 2009 - Standard Bank has triumphed at the International Investment Magazine’s International Fund and Product Awards 2009, winning ‘Best International Bank’ against stiff opposition and taking away a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Structured Product category.

The Gala Awards dinner was held at The Brewery in London on Wednesday 13th May. The International Fund & Product Awards are the only awards that recognise the achievements of the offshore financial services industry and the financial products and services that they distribute internationally.

Managing Director of Standard Bank Isle of Man Limited, John Coyle, said: “We are extremely proud to have won the ‘Best International Bank’ award, given the calibre of the other shortlisted entrants. This is a reflection of our excellent product portfolio and the expertise of our people who continue to deliver outstanding service. The Highly Commended in the International Structured Products category is also particularly pleasing because we have worked hard to provide products that are appealing to our diverse customer base.”

The awards attracted a large number of quality entries, despite a difficult year for the financial sector globally. The judges were impressed by the depth and quality of the entries in 2009, making Standard Bank’s achievement even more impressive. Over 30 different companies were shortlisted for the 13 different awards and Standard Bank was successful in being shortlisted for four of them.

Standard Bank’s Director of Intermediary Distribution, David Wilkinson, who collected the award said: “I was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the Standard Bank team. The award is a very credible endorsement of the high standards we strive for within our business.”
