MANX2.COM REPORTS POSITIVE PASSENGER GROWTH IN JULY 2009
Isle News, 12 August 2009 – Manx2.com recorded a 25% increase in passenger numbers on its flagship Blackpool route in July 2009, compared to the same month in 2008. In addition, passenger numbers on its route to Gloucester (M5) airport were up by one tenth for the same period.
Overall, Manx2.com carried 8,780 scheduled passengers in July 2009, an increase of 3% compared to July 2008. This follows an unchanged month in June this year, and a decline of 9.8% in May.
Manx2.com Chairman, Noel Hayes, commented: “Whilst it is too soon to say the market in general has turned, we have again demonstrated that even in the toughest economic conditions, our formula of great value frequent flights to smaller, regional airports is what the market really wants.
“For us to register a 25% increase in passenger numbers to Blackpool in July over the same month in 2008 is truly amazing, and clearly demonstrates that our unique offer of four flights a day, free parking at Blackpool airport and free use of the executive lounge for all Manx2.com passengers has real appeal for budget-conscious travellers, and has succeeded in stimulating visitor numbers.”
