MANX TELECOM STAFF GETTING THERE BY ANY MEANS!
Isle News, 29 April 2009 – If you are out and about this Sunday (3rd May 2009), you may come across various cyclists, joggers, dog walkers – even horse riders and sailors – all with a special goal in mind.
They all work for Manx Telecom and they’re out on their annual quest to travel round each of the company’s 10 out-of-town exchanges throughout the island. But there’s a catch. They have to do so by any means other than a car!
It’s all in a good local cause, too. This year they’ll be raising funds for Sailing for the Disabled and The Hyperbaric Chamber.
So far at least 80 people have signed up for the event which starts from Manx Telecom’s Headquarters at 9am this Sunday May 3rd.
Not everyone will complete the entire circuit but a group of cyclists are planning to get to all the exchanges – a total of 69 miles. With destinations as far afield as Marown, St Johns, Castletown, Laxey, Peel, Port Erin, Kirk Michael, Sulby, Ramsey and, last but not least, Andreas, the chances are you may see some hardy souls trekking around on the day. If so, give them some moral and financial support.
