LONDON VENUE FOR UNIQUE MANX EVENT

Isle News, 8 October 2009 –  St Paul’s Cathedral was the venue for a unique celebration hosted recently by Manx-based pharmaceutical company, Medis.   Part of the worldwide Activis Group, Medis specialises in the sales and marketing of generic pharmaceuticals in the British Isles and a number of other European markets. The company, which wanted to thank its UK-based customers and update them on recent developments within Medis, chose St Paul’s as a unique venue, one which would create a memorable evening for those attending.

Over 40 guests from 24 different companies, including Sheila Lowe, Director of Finance & Development at the Isle of Man Department of Trade and Industry, came along to enjoy an evening which included a special tour of the Cathedral and Crypt, including several areas which are not normally accessible to the general public. The tour was followed by a meal, hosted by Medis’s Managing Director, Stuart Colligon.

“We wanted to do something different,” says Stuart, “and the choice of St Paul’s certainly paid off.  It really was remarkable to be able to hold our celebration in such an iconic venue.  The evening gave us and our customers an opportunity to meet and network in spectacular surroundings; it also gave us the chance to reinforce the message that Medis’s commitment to the UK market remains strong, despite the extremely challenging market conditions.  Just as important, however, we wanted everyone to have a relaxing and informal time. “

The evening was rounded off by guest speaker, Dr. Phil Hammond, a practicing GP who is also a broadcaster, journalist, and humorous commentator on medicine who has appeared on many BBC television and radio programmes.  Dr Hammond’s satirical and insightful anecdotes about the UK health service, and on medicine generally, delighted the audience and helped create an unforgettable evening for Medis and its guests.

The feedback from guests has been very positive, and Medis is already scouting venues for next year’s event, determined make it equally impressive.
