LOCAL PR GROUP REPRESENTED AT A GLOBAL LEVEL

Jason MacKenzieIsle News, 24 September 2009 – THE Channel Islands group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations has been represented at two international conferences.

Chair Jason MacKenzie was invited by the CIPR in London to represent the CIPR, which is the industry’s representative body, at the 2009 Congreso Internacional de Relaciones Publicas in Mexico, which was organised by the country’s PR body the Asociacian Mexicana de Profesionalles de Relaciones Publicas.

The one day conference, saw three main speakers addressing the audience in the morning followed by a number of workshops in the afternoon. Mr MacKenzie’s 90-minute lecture on the best practices in integrated communication closed the morning programme and drew on his experiences working as both a journalist and PR and marketing professional.

He has since been approached by Merca 2.0, a Mexican industry publication, to be involved with a forthcoming edition.

Following the warm response he was given and the positive report from the organisers, the CIPR asked Mr MacKenzie if he would represent them again. He is now in Poland to be the keynote speaker at the 5th Public Relations Congress in Warsaw, which has been organised by the Polish Association of Public Relations and Direct Marketing Association. The congress is providing a platform for PR and marketing professionals to exchange their views and opinions and discuss trends and opportunities.

Mr MacKenzie, who was born in Guernsey but now lives in Jersey, has recently started pan-Channel Island integrated agency One Strategic and said he was proud to have been given the opportunity to represent the Channel Islands and the CIPR.

‘Being invited to speak in both Mexico and Poland has been a huge honour for me and I am delighted that I have been able to share my thoughts and experiences with fellow professionals from two very different countries. The CIPR is the most recognised PR institution in the world and it is a testament to their work, that they were invited to take part,’ he said.
