Local artists to perform at “Mound of Music” at La Hougue Bie in aid of Jersey Heritage

Isle News, 5 August 2009 – La Hougue Bie is set to provide a historic setting for contemporary local music in order to raise money for Jersey Heritage.

Mound of Music 2009, which has been funded by Mourant through its sponsorship of Jersey Heritage, sees Jersey bands and songwriters coming together for a day of live music which takes place on Saturday 22nd August.

Islanders and tourists are invited to come for the whole day, to bring a picnic and to enjoy superb live music, as well as exploring the site itself.

During the day, the different parts of the site including the chapel and passage grave will be used as backdrops for the bands, many of whom will be performing unique acoustic sets.

Acts representing the wide spectrum of the Jersey music scene; from acoustic solo acts such as Rick Jones and Justin Thorne, to bands like Crowne and Brave Yesterday will be performing in the unique surroundings of the neolithic burial mound and medieval chapel.

Matt McManus, one of the organisers of this event, commented;

“Mound of Music is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy music by Jersey’s foremost artists surrounded by the Island’s rich culture and heritage. I hope people take the opportunity to enjoy what is set to be a great celebration of local musical talent while raising money to help Jersey Heritage preserve such unique sites as La Hougue Bie.

The site remains open as per the usual opening hours and admission charges and music will run from midday until 5pm. Normal admission prices will apply. For further info visit www.moundofmusic.com.
