Jersey Telecom partners with virtualization experts, Virtustream
Isle News, 28 September 2009 – Jersey Telecom has announced that an agreement has been signed with locally based, global firm, Virtustream, to offer a world leading cloud solution, utilising ‘true’ virtual based technology, from January 2010. The partnership will also offer complete virtualization solutions and unique cost efficiencies that are currently unavailable for businesses in the Channel Islands and further a field.
In doing so, JT has chosen a valuable company to partner with. Headquartered in Washington, with offices in London, Dublin and Jersey, Virtustream is an infrastructure services firm committed to helping clients actualize the enterprise cloud by providing strategy, integration and managed services leveraging virtualization technologies, and their secure platform.
The revolutionary offering leverages eight years of virtualization expertise and will include guaranteed resources backed by an industry leading service level agreement delivered on a highly efficient global platform.
Julian Box, Chief Technology Officer, Virtustream said “This is a great opportunity for us to work with JT to deliver a ‘world leading’ cloud technology to local businesses. Virtualization isn’t by any means a new technique; businesses globally have been using it for years. Our platform, however, offers unique cost efficiencies and initial studies indicate that we should be able to offer savings in the region of 30% on total cost of ownership, when compared to costs of a standardised virtual environment.”
Mr Box continued, “JT’s communications expertise across a wide range of services, alongside our cloud-based platform, makes for some exciting new opportunities for us. The platform uses virtualization techniques never seen before in the hosted services industry and its architecture enables us to offer guaranteed SLA’s in terms of performance, which is currently unheard of.”
The partnership further enhances JT’s breadth of services and strengthens its position in infrastructure services, both as a crucial support element for the business, and as an integrated and innovative solutions supplier in the market.
James Hampson, Head of Channel Island Business for Jersey Telecom said “We’re delighted to align with Virtustream and eagerly anticipate leveraging their deep virtualization expertise for enterprise cloud computing. The partnership comes at fortuitous time with our recent acquisition of Newtel Solution’s data centers in Guernsey. Virtustream’s experience offering infrastructure as a service will naturally complement and enhance our existing hosting offerings and customers will soon be able to benefit from some very compelling cost efficiencies.”
Mr Hampson continued, “With Virtustream’s secure virtualization platform, JT’s customers can now access the latest technologies available in the industry. We will also enable companies to cost-effectively implement these solutions on-site or within their own facilities. With this partnership, we can provide consulting services for implementing more reliable virtualization solutions. By working with Virtustream we will continue to be the communications solutions provider of choice, in and beyond the Channel Islands, by using our knowledge, partnerships, skills and attitude to deliver compelling services.”
