ITEX PREPARES TO UNVEIL VMWARE’S ‘VSPHERE’ TO JERSEY BUSINESSES
Isle News, 28 April 2009 – Channel Islands-based businesses will be given an opportunity to discover the very latest “cloud-computing” based virtualisation technology to come to the global IT market at a VMware Business Breakfast to be hosted in May by Itex.
On Thursday 21st May Graham Crich, the UK Hosting Manager of VMWare, will address an audience of business and technology decision makers at the Grand Hotel in St Helier to communicate how the new “vSphere” concept, unveiled on April 21st, can reduce technology-related capital and operating costs.
Cloud computing is a way of working which is based on sharing computer resources instead of applications being handled by individual machines. Large groups of servers are networked together, which spreads data-processing chores between them. Processes take place at the same time for all machines on the network rather than individually on each machine linked to the network, increasing computing power and efficiency, and reducing cost [webopedia].
Delivering on this concept, vSphere from VMWare promises to revolutionise the way companies look at their IT services. The architecture provides the industry’s first cloud operating system, transforming IT infrastructures into a private cloud – a collection of internal clouds federated on-demand to external clouds – delivering IT infrastructure as an easily accessible service. In short, vSphere represents the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services with the efficiency and low cost of cloud computing – featuring uncompromising control over service levels.
Earlier this year, Itex achieved membership of a very select group of companies by attaining VMware VAC Gold Partner status. This means that clients will benefit from the company’s ability to combine its technology expertise along with services to design, plan and deploy sophisticated virtualisation solutions, bringing maximum benefit in terms of cost and efficiency. Itex also recently attained VMware Service Provider Program status at Enterprise level, enabling the delivery of Virtual Infrastructure to customers as a hosted offering to increase service levels and value. Itex has the highest possible level of VMware expertise, allowing the company’s consultants to leverage VMware’s vCloud computing solutions and develop and deliver enterprise-ready cloud services to businesses.
Christopher Eaton, Sales and Marketing Director of Itex in Jersey, commented:
“VMware vSphere is the next evolutionary step in IT computing, enabling customers to bring the power of cloud computing to their IT infrastructures. Building on the power of VMware Infrastructure, VMware vSphere dramatically reduces capital and operating costs, and increases control over IT infrastructures while preserving the flexibility to choose any OS, application and hardware.
“Organisations of all sizes can achieve the full benefits of cloud computing, delivering the highest levels of application service agreements with the lowest total cost per application workload. vSphere means they will have more control than ever before over their internal IT processes, and will drive down total cost per user which is extremely important given the current economic climate.
“Businesses should have a high level of confidence in Itex’s ability to deliver VMware virtualisation solutions thanks to our recent appointment as a VAC Gold Partner and as a VMware Service Provider. Our staff have been trained to the very highest level to provide an in-depth consultancy service, and then deliver the most efficient and effective information technology services to revolutionise a company’s IT infrastructure.
“The VMware vSphere concept is incredibly exciting, and I would encourage anyone who has considered, or is currently using cloud computing, to come to the breakfast briefing and find out more.”
