GLOBAL CHIEF OF INFORMATION OFFICER TO SPEAK AT JERSEY SEMINAR

Isle News, 6 October 2009 – Mark Dearnley, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Cable & Wireless International Group, will be addressing local businesses at a seminar next week.

Mr Dearnley, who is responsible for leading IT, Security and Customer Experience across a portfolio of 39 full service consumer telecoms companies across the world, will be discussing the importance of optimising IT to improve service.

There are a limited number of places available at the event, which starts at 8am at Grand Jersey on Tuesday 13th October and should conclude by 09:30. The event will include breakfast.

His presentation will discuss the Cable and Wireless International journey and will cover some important topics for IT Directors at businesses of all sizes. The   presentation will include topics such as the rationalisation and optimisation of data centres, application modernisation across multiple geographies, self-service and IT-linked customer service and remote access using mobile and fixed technology.

Mr Dearnley is responsible for Cable & Wireless’ annual IT capital expenditure of $52M. He ultimately oversees more than 550 IT staff operating in 39 countries.

Prior to becoming Group CIO in January 2008, Mr Dearnley spent two years as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President for Indian Operations for Cable & Wireless UK. He has also held positions with Energis, Boots, Scient, Accenture, Interactive Group, Matra Marconi Space and Lucas Aerospace.

Speakers at the event will include Eddie Saints, Chief Executive, Cable & Wireless Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Bermuda, speaking about developments across the Sure businesses. Russ Sharman, Sure’s Chief Technical Officer, will be outlining recent network developments and plans for future investment.
