CUSTOMER CARE PUTS GUY ON TOP

Guy WolstencroftIsle News, 26 March 2009 – Communicating with others is something most of us take for granted so any loss of hearing can be devastating. Astonishingly, it can take people up to 15 years to take action if they suspect their hearing is failing.

That’s why it is essential for professionals to be understanding and easily accessible. Guy Wolstencroft of Manx Hidden Hearing has the job of helping restore hearing in a soothing environment and it’s something he’s passionate about.

Guy has been with Manx Hidden Hearing, based in a state of the art clinic in Onchan’s Village Walk, for 14 years. He said: ‘I am dedicated in helping people protect what is left of their natural hearing and make them hear sounds that they were once used to. It is incredibly rewarding to work closely with a patient on a journey to hear clearer, sharper and more distinctly and for them to feel so much more involved when talking with family, friends and their loved ones.”

Guy is a registered dispenser and a member of the Society of Hearing Audiologists. He is involved with lecturing on rehabilitation, new technology, the effects of living with your own hearing loss and how to communicate with people who have hearing loss.

He said: ‘The most important aspect of my job is ensuring that people always feel at home, comfortable and respected – from when they first they come in for a consultation to throughout the rehabilitation and aftercare process. We help each of our clients as much as possible and this includes arranging a taxi service or picking up prescriptions. The clinic and my team create a wonderful environment to practice in. I believe this is due to the fact that we are an established and experienced local caring company, where clients can feel valued and are treated like a member of the family.’

Family is central to Guy’s life. Aged 40, he is married to Karen and the couple have two children, Imogen, 9, and four year old Honor. He is keen on team and individual sports such as rugby, basketball, tennis and skiing.

Says Guy: ‘I am blessed with a beautiful family and we thrive on the community ethos and spirit of such a wonderful Island. We’ve just got a new addition to the family – “ Biscuit” a handsome chocolate Labrador puppy, so he’s keeping us busy!’
