CRY Jersey auction a great success

CRY JerseyIsle News, 30 September 2009 – CRY Jersey’s well attended annual charity auction was held on Friday, 18th September at St Helier this year at St Helier Town Hall, led by auctioneer, Tommy A’Court, raising over £4,100.  This year funds will support the ‘Home of Hope’ children’s home and day centre in Albania.  Many of the children supported were living on the streets, or in shanty type housing.  CRY are providing a loving home and educational and medical facilities for these children – mostly Roma gipsy children, who as a minority group are excluded in many ways and live in extreme poverty.  Thanks to the Town Hall, our photographer, Jane Allchin’s organizing team, the generous donors and bidders for the Lots and the sponsors, including, Carey Olsen, Bag It, Zand Benevolent and image.

Lots included stunning artwork by Zoe Allchin, Le Quennevais School Student  and Tiffany Khajeh-Noori (21 Months); a tour of Ron Hickman’s house; and a ride in the V16 Cadillac built for Maharajah of Tikari.

CRY – Care & Relief for the Young – are a local Christian charity that aims to “rescue and restore young lives broken by poverty, oppression and abuse”.
