Chief Executive Officer of Jersey Telecom Group to step down next year
Isle News, 16 July 2009 – Bob Lawrence is to step down as chief executive officer of JT Group in spring 2010.
Mr Lawrence joined Jersey Telecom as an apprentice and has been with the organisation for 36 years, almost 20 as its chief executive officer.
In a notice to staff, Mr Lawrence said it was important to give the board advance notice of his intention to leave to ensure a successful and seamless hand-over to the new chief executive officer. The recruitment process for Mr Lawrence’s successor will begin in September 2009.
Mr Lawrence said, “Jersey Telecom has been a massive part of my life for many years, but my wife, Pat, and I have decided that it’s time to move on and do something different. I advised John Henwood, the then chairman of the board, some time ago of my intentions so that the planning process for my replacement could begin. There is quite a period of time before I leave and my commitment remains as strong as it ever has been. So far as I am concerned, it’s business as usual.”
Newly-appointed chairman John Boothman said; “We will all be very sorry to see Bob go as he has contributed enormously to the success of Jersey Telecom over many years. However, we respect his decision and are grateful that he has given us sufficient time to plan and organise the recruitment of his successor.” He continued “I would like to thank Bob for his wisdom, dedication and unbounded energy not just as chief executive but throughout his career at Jersey Telecom.”
