Butterfield produces pounds for Pink Ladies

Butterfield Guernsey Pink ladiesIsle News, 23 June 2009 – The generosity of Butterfield staff raised more than £1800 for the Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal walk last week.

16 female staff members undertook the trek from Grandes Rocques to town but almost every person in the organisation contributed in some way.

Staff rallied round the Butterfield Pink Ladies, organising a mufti day, a cake sale and a sweep stake to win a bottle of champagne. Generous personal donations from staff members added to the overall total.

Sue Woodhard, who organised the 16 walkers, said that she had been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.

“It is for such a good cause, I think everyone was moved to contribute something. People not involved in the actual walk were taking a leading role in other fund raising activities,” said Mrs Woodhard.

“The walk itself was tiring but enjoyable. There was a genuine sense of camaraderie between all the women involved and it is a real positive to see so many people and organizations working together in support of a local charitable cause. The Pink Ladies have really captured Guernsey’s imagination this year and inspired a wonderful community spirit. It is definitely something that I would do again.” she added.

Bob Moore, managing director of Butterfield in Guernsey, said: “Staff have really got behind this in a big way; I think many people’s lives have been touched by the great work of the Guernsey breast cancer support group and this has spurred on the generosity.

“Congratulations to our Pink Ladies for completing the walk and to all the other women who stepped out to raise money for such a worthwhile cause,’ he added.
