BUCHAN PUPILS ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN MANX2.COM TRIATHLON

Isle News, 6 July 2009 – Every competitor who took part in the second annual Manx2.com Buchan School triathlon managed to complete the course this year.

The event, which took place at the Buchan’s senior school, King William’s College, saw 75 pupils compete in the swimming, cycling and running challenge in poor weather conditions. Eight age groups took part in the competition – boys and girls Under Eight, boys and girls Under Nine, boys and girls Under Ten and boys and girls Under Eleven.

Each pupil was presented with their medal by Noel Hayes, Chairman of Manx2.com and the event sponsor.

Neil MacGregor, PE Teacher at the Buchan School, commented: “It is very pleasing to see that every single child who took part in this competition managed to cross the finish line. Even during the final stage, they all managed to run rather than walk and this shows real determination to succeed. It was a very gruelling competition and I am proud of every single one of them.”

Noel Hayes commented: “The Manx2.com Buchan School triathlon is a very physically demanding competition, and competing requires a lot of training and preparation. Pupils showed very impressive determination in reaching the finishing line, and I was delighted to be able to reward them with their medals. Well done to all who took part!”
